Dear blog reader,
Would you like to improve your Skype for Business skills? In this post, you’ll find my fourth tip about the ‘Do Not Disturb’ status. You can find the other four tips here:
- Skype for business tip 1: Send messages with a shortcut
- Skype for business tip 2: How to send a meeting request

If you’ve read this blog post, you already know how useful the Skype for Business status ‘Do Not Disturb’ can be. When you need to focus, this status will turn off message notifications. However, when you’re waiting for an important message from a colleague, ‘Do Not Disturb’ might keep you from seeing it when it comes in.
Luckily, there’s a quick fix for this inconvenience. In this blog post, I’ll explain how to do it.
- Click the arrow next to your current status and set it to ‘Do Not Disturb’.
- Look for the contact who is allowed to ‘disturb’ you and right-click them. Go to ‘Change Privacy Relationship’ and choose ‘Workgroup’.
Your colleague will now be able to reach you even when your status is set to ‘Do Not Disturb’. You can undo this later by changing the option back to its original setting by clicking ‘Auto-assign Relationship’.
