The customer
Belfius is one of the largest and best-known Belgian banks; almost one Belgian in three is a customer of this bank. Recently, Belfius decided to switch to communication and collaboration in the cloud.
The challenge
The most difficult step in a migration process is often convincing and training the employees. Belfius not only wanted the new tools and techniques to be applied, but also wanted people to understand why the switch was made and how everything works.
The process
During an initiation course, employees became familiar with the M365 cloud in general and with Teams specifically. However, broader topics were also covered such as cloud storage (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint) and collaboration tools (which you can integrate into your Teams).
Not everyone was immediately convinced by the new way of working. Which isn’t surprising, since old habits die hard. Fortunately, the increased efficiency of the new tools made it easier to convince them of the worth of the tools. For many employees, the extended possibilities for remote work also meant an advantage.
Luc Engelen, M365 trainer at Xylos is praises the project and the cooperation: ‘The course participants are eager to learn, positively critical, and after the training they enthusiastically step outside with numerous ideas around the use of the new cloud platform.’
The result
‘The rollout of M365 at Belfius is part of the BeTeams program, a program revolving around Happy & productive employees in a hybrid workplace,’ explains Kathleen Wouters, Program & Change manager. ‘Our workplace has indeed become fundamentally hybrid and as an employer we very much like to see our employees happy and productive in their work.’
‘The move to M365 also fits within this program because we strongly believe that M365 can perfectly support the hybrid workplace and contribute to the objectives of our program. It is however very important that our employees have a thorough understanding of what M365 is, what the possibilities are, how it can be of added value to them and that they’re able to use the tools.’
‘We set up a complete Change Plan around this and chose Xylos as our partner for the training component. Xylos proved to be the perfect partner, not least because of their super enthusiastic and competent trainers! Their insight into the broader picture and our objectives were a big plus as well. Together we chose to start the training from the perspective of cooperation and positioned the different tools in this story, instead of starting from the tools themselves. After all, a tool is not a goal in itself. Moreover, it is a pleasure to work with people who are at the same time super professional but also very human. The service (flexibility, speed, organization, keeping appointments) is really top notch!’
